Following Greg's visit to many Princes Risborough businesses on Monday 15th June 2020, on Friday 19th June 2020 he visited a number of local high street shops in Buckingham and Winslow to hear how the first week of trading has gone since non-essential retail re-opened.
In Buckingham Greg was delighted to visit RSPCA Chiltern Branch (who are encouraging people in with a tombola in store), Quality Dry Cleaners & Laundry, Leeders Hardware Ltd, Dandy Lions Child Boutique (where he bought some presents for his own children), The Nimble Thimble and Finca El Monte. He also saw Tiny Ceramics which he hopes will be able to open soon. Greg was really sorry to hear about the flooding which has caused Finca El Monte to have to close again to redecorate, but they are still able to trade online.
Moving to Winslow, Greg visited Gary Smith Family Butchers, Mood Home and Lifestyle, Unique Pets and Verdigris Antiques Interiors. It was sad to hear Unique Pets have had to close their Aylesbury store, but thankfully the Winslow branch is still going strong.
All businesses have put in social distancing measures, along with Covid-secure measures such as hand sanitiser bottles and screens at their counters to ensure all shoppers are safe when in store.
Commenting, Greg said: "It is so important to support all our local independent retailers. I am sure everyone values our local high streets and small businesses - and there is only one way to ensure their long term success and survival - shop local!"
