Exciting to be at the ground breaking ceremony for the new Wycombe Hospital development this afternoon.
Wycombe Hospital is a key hospital serving Mid Buckinghamshire and I have been calling for years for a new facility at the site to start replacing the aging tower. It is something I raised many times with the last Government and since the 2024 General Election with the current one. I am delighted Buckinghamshire NHS Hospitals Trust are now making it happen.
The scheme comprises an NHS Endoscopy Unit, Cardiac and Stoke Emergency Unit, Cath Labs, Operating Theatres, Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Wards, Diagnostics and associated infrastructure and public realm enhancements.
The Wycombe Hospital Development will enable the relocation of key clinical services from the Phase 1 1960’s Wycombe Hospital Tower and Phase 3 building due to existing accommodation not being fit for purpose and the deteriorating condition of existing buildings. The co-location of existing services into the development will provide clinical accommodation to meet current standards for high risk patients, improve clinical adjacencies, efficiencies, patient safety and enhance the patient and staff experience.
They’re working at superb pace on this and the first patients are expected to be treated in the new building from 2027.
