Pressing the Environment Secretary on Useless Government Roadmap for Farming

The Environment Secretary came to the Commons today with a word salad ‘roadmap’ for farming that NFU President Tom Bradshaw has described as “full of ambition” but “falls short on action and even shorter on the means of delivery.” I put it to the Secretary of State that long term ambition for innovation is one thing - and something farmers have been doing since the dawn of time - the Government have nothing to say on the current price shocks on fertiliser prices and the impending carbon taxes on fertiliser next year (that the Government has decided to implement). Her answer that (high) prices have stabilised completely missed the point.
