This month, I was pleased to meet with senior representatives from the Environment Agency - where we discussed a number of issues across the Mid Buckinghamshire constituency, mostly relating to flooding, such as at Calvert Green.
I took the opportunity to drive the Environment Agency representatives around a number of flooding sites, including Shabbington, Kingsey and Ickford. We discussed how the Agency can better help us mitigate the flooding - as well as be more robust in opposing development on the floodplains which exacerbates our local flooding issues. With the new Bucks local plan coming up, it is essential none of the Government's housing targets are allowed to be built out on floodplain or areas that will cause flood risk.
We also went to Hyde End - joined by Cllr. Heather Wallace - where unpermitted industrial practices have been happening (equally without planning permission) - asking for greater support from the Agency in challenging this deeply unacceptable operation.
