Earlier today, I attended a briefing by the Police Federation of England and Wales on three serious issues facing officers and the findings demand action.
75 officers died by suicide between 2022-2025, yet forces aren’t required to record these deaths. 247 of those who died or attempted suicide were under investigation at the time.
Misconduct investigations lasting years are causing real psychological harm. And officers lack clear legal powers to safely manage roadside vehicle stops. These are solvable problems. I’ll be pressing for action.
