Beyond parody in the House of Commons this afternoon. Angela Rayner had the audacity to say she wanted to put power in every postcode — yet the reality of what this Labour Government have done to Buckinghamshire is the precise opposite. They have demanded a 43% increase in Bucks’ housing target - meaning 91,000 homes to be built because of the Government’s 1.5 million national target (the Lib Dems have an even higher housing target by the way) whilst lowering London’s target.
Then telling our council if they refuse too many applications they will have their planing powers taken off them. It’s the opposite of power in every postcode, it is central diktat, pure and simple — a point the Secretary of State completely failed to give me an answer on.
